West Side lacrosse is very proud that we have helped over 100 athletes achieve their goal of playing college lacrosse. Our players have gone on to play all levels of Varsity NCAA, NAIA and MCLA lacrosse. Some West Siders have been named captain of their team, won conference and league awards and Championships, broke team records and even won a few National Championships. You can check out a complete list of our West Side college commits HERE
Recruiting is an important aspect of what we do for players who have college lacrosse ambition, but West Side does not guarantee our players and families scholarships or specific placement at higher learning institutions. We feel that College choices should be made about educational programs, standards and principles first and the lacrosse program next. West Side's job is not to get you into college. That is on you. Our responsibility is to get you ready for the level of college lacrosse you want to play. Here are a few tools and resources that can help start the recruiting process and get you in front of college coaches.
FIELD LEVEL: West Side uses Field Level recruiting services to help our players connect with and learn about college lacrosse programs from all over the country. Field Level is a free service where players can build an online profile and post highlight videos. Coaches and players can reach out to each other to share info and start the recruiting process. West Side is currently connected with 150 college lacrosse coaches from all over the country through Field Level. If you are interested in the possibility of playing college lacrosse, I highly recommend you start a Field Level account. There are no requirements or commitments and like anything else, you will get out of it what you put in. Field level has helped many of our players research programs, share information and introduce new schools they may have not known about.
Go to this link to request to join our Field Level account https://www.fieldlevel.com/e3rhx4wp/lacrossemen/roster/signup I will certify your account and write a brief synopsis of you and your position, strengths, potential, attitude and skillset. I am honest in these descriptions and can/will change them when necessary. I am happy to speak with College Coaches on your behalf and welcome all conversations or questions about the recruiting process. Let me know if you want to play college lacrosse and what level. Coaches are always emailing, messaging and approaching me asking "Who should I look at?". I do not want to waste their time or miss an opportunity to help you.
TOURNAMENTS: We attend both large and local tournaments to get the most playing experience and exposure for less money. Most tourneys will have local college coaches in attendance and we do our best to speak with those coaches at each event. This summer West Side will be attending the Midwest Invitational (GRAIL) again with a huge list of college coaches. We are adding the TI Midwest Showcase to get our players in front of more top level coaches from all over the country. Go to their website to see a list of coaches who attended last year. It is impressive. We will also be offering film packages from all the tourneys that offer them for players who want to make their own recruiting videos.
I am available to sit and discuss the recruiting process with you or your family on the phone or in person. There are many factors that go into the recruiting experience and I feel it is important that our players be prepared as they begin the process. I can help explain the difference between the associations and divisions and provide insight about a lot of different programs. This is a not a service nor will it incur any additional costs. This is a part of West Side and something I feel is important to the growth of our players beyond High School. I have already sat with many players and families and enjoy the conversation and look forward to more. The recruiting experience can be daunting and with the growth of our program and more players going on to play college lacrosse, many of our players are going to have options. Being recruited to play college lacrosse is a privilege and you and your family should enjoy the process and have fun with it. Going to college is a wonderful and important experience for those who choose that path. Playing lacrosse in college makes it even wonderfuller. (sorry) Let me know what I can do to help.
